Notes from the Farm

Change

Well, I would like to say that I am so excited that our nation has elected the first black president…… I would like to say that - but I’m not. He is not just black, Barack Hussein Obama - the name alone says alot of what I’m feeling. Hussein - when you read that word, what do you think of? Yes, 911. This man went to a Muslim school. That is scary!

Please don’t think that I am racist, that is not the case. I would love to see a black man elected, but, a black American Christian man. The United States is a country that was founded on Christian values. Mr. Obama stated that America is no longer just a Christian nation. Well, he’s right, sadly, it’s not - but that does not make it OK. Any good president of the US would make it a priority to get it back to the way it should be, a Christian nation.

Barack claims to be a Christian, does he know what that really is?
* Christian values DO NOT promote abortions in any form, Mr. Obama does.
* Christian values believe that God created man and woman to become one in marriage - Mr. Obama is OK with gay marriage.

Those 2 things alone were enough to help me with my choice for president.  Not to mention, that he refuses to say the Pledge of Allegiance - to the United States of America!

That being said. God is in control. He may work through Obama, or He may allow the US to suffer the consequences of our choice. I have a hard time not being a little fearful of what is going to happen to our nation - abortions, gay marriages - I don’t want my family exposed to such (think Sodom & Gommorah). But I am also commanded in the Bible to “Fear Not”. Worry and fear show a lack of trust in God. So I will work on putting my complete trust in God for this situation. We should also respect our authority figures and I will pray for our nation, and our president, because I know God still moves and can move our president - if that is His will.

Change, hmmmm. I hope some things do change. Things like lower taxes; better health programs for those who can’t afford insurance but make too much for help with medical bills; ban on abortion; ban on gay marriage; get God back in our schools & in our country. Those are some things I’d like to see changed.

Lee-Roys : Funny things that kids say

Brandon was going to take the trash out and realized it was cold.  So he went to get some pants from his drawer and was telling me that he needs pants too, not just jeans.  Then he yells, ‘Oh good, I have some Lee-Roys!!’

Hmmm, maybe that is slang for Corderoys??

Landscaping Update

Same as with the last post, I don’t have pictures uploaded yet, and if I wait until I get the time to upload them, I’ll never post.

Anyway, the grass is all growing (along with the weeds), our water bill was $64 last month!!  We have the sidewalk done and full of pea gravel, it looks really great!  I have planted the following things:  Gardenia, several Mondo Grass plants, 3 Dwarf Nandina’s, 2 Mums and 1 Yaupon Holly.  I need to get about 2 more Mondo Grass plants and one Lavender plant for the front of the porch, and several more Mondo Grass plants and some shade plants like Hosta for the north side of the porch.  We’re also getting 2 dogwood trees for the north side of the porch and we’re looking for a Prairiefire Crabapple for the south side of the porch, then we’ll put a clump of 3 River Birches out where my old veggie garden was.  I am going to get some colored mulch for the beds today to help with weed control, etc.  Our yard is going to look so great next summer!!

I’ll post pics soon I hope.
